Dami joined Kudi in March of 2021. In her own words “the healthy work-life balance system for employees” has struck a chord with her.
In this catch-up, Dami tells us about herself, why she switched from frontend development to product design, and all the factors that influence her designs.
How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as a reliable, ambitious, self-motivated, kind, creative individual with a great sense of humor.
How did you get into design?
I started out as a frontend developer, which I did for about three months, and then figured out that I enjoyed coming up with the design more than I did implementing the code, and haven’t gone back to coding since then.
What design tool currently excites you the most? What problem does it solve?
Figma is my favourite tool at the moment. The fact that it’s web based has created the opportunity to work from any computer. For me, it solves the problem of platform lock-in.
What inspires your designs?
Social media and my environment (including people). I have a folder on my laptop where I regularly save designs, animations, colour themes, and the like.
Tell us about your growth as a designer
A friend of mine taught me to take small actions on a daily basis to try and improve my knowledge. I have made this a habit. I find that collaborating with others, especially those with more experience than I have, has helped me grow tremendously.
What’s one thing you would say has surprised you about joining Kudi?
The healthy work-life balance system for employees.
What are you currently working on?
I am excited about revamping the onboarding experience for the Kudi mobile app.
